Some of you know that this past week, my husband surprised me with tickets to see Justin Timberlake in Nashville for my birthday. It was such an incredible surprise because I’m a HUGE JT fan! I consider myself an OG dating back to the N*SYNC days. This was actually my second time to see him perform live, and I can say *hands down* that he the best live performer I’ve EVER seen. The first time I saw him live was on his 20/20 tour and then this past week for his Man of the Woods tour. BOTH incredible experiences, and both VERY different. I loooove telling these stories because both times were out of this world. SO, if you want to experience JT through the eyes of a super fan, including a surprise VIP experience, keep reading!
Duane shocked me with tickets to Nashville and I was SO excited. I invited my friend Jessica from Nashville to go with me and we were STOKED. Because the tickets were purchased last minute on a whim, we were pretty high up. But, if you’ve ever been to an event at Bridgestone Arena, then you know there’s not a bad seat in the house. For those of you who have kept up with Justin’s new album, you know that he recorded a song with Chris Stapleton (Nashville legend). Since we were seeing him in Nashville, we were hoping and praying CS would make a surprise appearance. We took an Uber to the arena, and just stepping out of the car on Broadway, you could feel the electricity in the air. See, the very next day, the Nashville Predators would be playing in Game 7 of the playoffs. With Justin Timberlake one night and Preds Game 7 the next— Smashville was LIT. We made our way into the arena, and grabbed some food. (Side note: if you ever visit Bridgestone, GET THE PREDS BURGER.) While at concessions, the lady checking us out leaned over and whispered, “I have to tell someone, Chris Stapleton is in the building!” YESSSSSS, HONEY! Once we got to our seats, we jammed with the DJ while he brought some Preds players up stage, we watched the opening act called ‘The Shadowboxers,’ and we anxiously awaited JT! He finally burst out onto the stage and gave us the most incredible show. The best part about this particular concert was that this album took him back to his Memphis roots. It was all about him being a “southern boy,” and Nashville just happened to be his first stop on the tour in the South. Also, his new hometown! The crowd was full of his friends in family, including his mom, and his best friend, Trace. In fact, at one point he said, “You know what, I probably paid for half of my own show!” You could tell that he was so excited to be home. But nothing prepared us for the electricity that went through the room when he announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, the legend… Chris Stapleton!” I genuinely thought the roof was going to blow off the top of that place. My ears were still ringing the next morning. He sings live, he breaks it down, he runs, he DJs… for 2 solid hours. He literally brought the outside in to the arena— such a great reflection of the Man of the Woods. Also, this night I tried to keep my phone in my pocket as much as possible, because I truly wanted to soak it all in. So here are a few pics from an incredible experience. Bravo, JT!

And now… the moment you’ve been waiting for… the time we were chosen for $1900 VIP seats as JT’s special guests for the 20/20 tour…
Raleigh, NC #2020tour:
I served as a Mary Kay Sales Director for 7 years. One year in particular, we decided to run a contest for our consultants to earn a trip to see Justin Timberlake in person. Along with a few other sales directors, we purchased 10 tickets to his show in Raleigh, NC— the closest show to us that wasn’t sold out. Fast forward a few months later, we were hitting the road with our winners, THRILLED to be seeing JT in person. The only tickets we could score that had 10 seats open were NOSEBLEED, but no one cared— we were all going to be in the same room as Justin Timberlake! We made it up to our top level, and got some concessions. As we were walking back to our seats, we heard the opening JT music and started running! All of sudden behind us, we hear, “HEY! HEY!” Trying to not miss a second of JT, we brush it off and don’t turn around. It wasn’t until we heard, “Do y’all want FLOOR SEATS?” We stopped DEAD in our tracks. We still didn’t believe him, I’m certain there were a few “Whatevers” and “You’re lyings” passed around. But he pulled out his lanyard with a very official “Crew” badge and we LOST our minds. He started giving each of us VIP wristbands and at one point said, “Okay, I’ll give you these seats, but you HAVE to stop screaming.” Lol! Could you blame us? At that point, we were ushered down three levels to the floor level, passed from official looking person to official looking person with flashlights until we were taken into a raised up roped off area right beside the middle stage. Y’all, these weren’t just floor seats, it was VIP. So much so that we were sitting right beside Daymond John— creator of FUBU (Shark Tank, anyone?) who was seeing the concert with his teenage daughters! Justin started on the main stage across the arena, but then during “Senorita” all of sudden, the stage starts lifting in the air and travels across the entire arena and sits down right on the middle stage. We were inches from Justin for the majority of the concert! For crying out loud, I even touched him twice! He grabbed my hand once, and I touched his leg once, haha. When we were told that our $107 tickets had been upgraded to $1900 seats, we were floored. Literally. I could not believe that this had happened to us. Justin puts on an incredible show, and to have had our first experience seeing him live happen like that— it was almost too much! I will never forget that random trip to Raleigh that resulted in such a once in a lifetime moment.
Daymond John from Shark Tank!
This close to the one and only Justin Timberlake!
The top picture is the view from where we started, the second is from VIP.
He not only sings his present album, but he sings every single hit he’s ever had— Cry Me A River, Rock Your Body, Like I Love You, What Goes Around, Bye Bye Bye, Summer Love, My Love, Mirrors, Suit and Tie, etc etc etc! You’re not only ridiculously entertained, but if you’ve been a fan for a long time, you will take THE MOST fun walk down memory lane. I cannot wait to see him live again, it never gets old, in fact, it gets better and better!
I hope this JT recap brings some MAGIC to your Monday!
