On this special day of remembrance for all the little ones who are in heaven, would you allow me to dream for a second? 💗
The other night I dreamed of opening a clinic called “Seeds.” It would be a discreet, beautiful, comfortable place for women/couples to come who can’t afford to go to a fancy fertility clinic. It would be a place that your insurance doesn’t matter because all of the providers would donate their time and the services would be paid for by people who love helping people. You see, *most* insurance companies and plans label fertility treatments as “elective” so any time you go to a doctor with the intention of “fertility,” it’s very likely that you’ll pay out of pocket. For EVERYTHING.
For the first 3 or 4 years of our fertility journey, we couldn’t even think of moving forward into the more extensive treatment because we couldn’t afford it. So we stuck to over the counter meds and prescriptions my OBGYN could prescribe at normal female visits covered by insurance. Our first visit with an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) aka fertility specialist, was over $800. And this was a CONSULTATION with blood work. That’s been the tip of the iceberg.
I know what it feels like to have the overwhelming desire to seek medical help in order to have a baby— but can’t. Because you can’t afford it.
This is why I have this incredible dream to open this clinic. I want to provide all the free fertility care possible. I want to provide counselors and therapists who love God and have a heart to help those experiencing infertility, miscarriage, and infant loss. I want to partner with doctors and nurses and people in the medical field who would be willing to donate their time. I want to see lives changed and generations changed for the better in providing this care for people who can’t afford it. I want to provide people to surround our patients and couples in love and hope and support.
The hard work and continual fundraising that would go into something like this is overwhelming to think about. But at the end of the day, I know it’s possible.
Even though it’s just a dream, now I’m just dreaming out loud. But maybe one day, you’ll see a beautiful “store front” that simply reads, ‘Seeds.’ I hope you never have to walk through the doors, but you can rest assured that those inside will be loved, encouraged, and cared for. The only payment required would be bringing your hearts and your babies to love on the other people receiving care. A community of paying it forward through Christ’s love is all I could ever hope to create through infertility.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” 2 Cor. 9:6
Sowing our seeds bountifully— in faith. What are YOUR dreams?
P.S. On this special day, October 15, please join us in lighting a candle at 7 PM tonight for all the little ones lost through miscarriage and infant loss. We are personally affected by this with many, many special people in our lives, and we want you to know that your babies in heaven are loved and never forgotten. Join us in honoring these babies and families tonight.
