I have always loved music. It feeds my soul. I love how it can express what I’m feeling when I can’t put words to my emotion. I don’t know about you, but when I find a new song I love I listen to it until I know every word so I can sing along. It lingers in my mind. I think on it and take it in and whether or not I realize it at the time, it impacts my life.
Side Note: I have been very convicted here lately about this very thing. First, why don’t I learn from my music tendencies and apply the same concept to scripture? Read it over and over until I know every word…allow scripture to linger in my mind…think on it, take it in, and let it impact my life. Yeah, gut punch for me. Secondly, if I am allowing music to have this much impact on my life, I should definitely ask the question, “Which songs am I allowing to get in my head?” Now I love some old school gangster rap, and 90s pop/rock was my jam. I still want to remain current on what’s out there, because my kids are hearing it and I need to be in the know. However, which songs am I really loving, putting on repeat, learning the words to?? That’s some food for thought.
Soooooo…if you are needing some new music to put on repeat that doesn’t talk about “dolla bills” or “Kiki” or “Balenciagas that look like socks” then download my new favorite album, “Look Up Child” by Lauren Daigle.
This whole album is amazing. I. Love. Every. Song. Daigle describes this album as her “attempts to reevaluate faith through the eyes of a kid—abandoning doubt and fear and other temptations of adulthood.” Her album has not only debuted at the top of the Christian charts, but was number 3 on the Billboard Charts…that’s huge! “Remember” is my favorite song so far…
It’s extremely encouraging and her voice to me sounds similar to Adele…rich and smooth with depth and truth behind it. It’s truly on repeat in my life right now. I just bet it will be in yours too and maybe it will inspire you to think about something other than Kiki.
