Recently I got to travel with my husband on a day trip out of town for work. It was so fun to get a few hours in the car with him to just discuss our world without hearing, “Mommy, I need…..(fill in the blank).” We try to get a couple hours away together at least two or three times a month if we can swing it, even if it is just a date night. This trip was to Ruston, Louisiana. I decided to go because it was an easy day trip AND I have wonderful friend that lives there, Travis Lee. Travis and I worked together years ago at the same non-profit. He is one of those friends where when you meet you have an instant connection and you feel like you have known each other your whole lives. Matt says that we are long lost siblings. We are so similar that when we were working together we could literally finish each other’s sentences.
Anyway, I have always known that Travis’s family has owned a shop in Ruston called the Chartreuse Pear, but I had never been able to visit. Travis moved home several years ago to work at and take over the shop. I have followed them on Instagram and shopped from afar, but I finally got to shop the store in person. I am officially in love.
The Chartreuse Pear has a little bit of everything: antiques, Bella Notte Linens, Barefoot Dreams clothing, home decor, jewelry, gifts, and even some baby/children’s items. Some of the lines I am sure you have heard of and some of their lines are so unique that you’ll feel special just being “in the know” about them. I discovered the fragrance line called Coqui Coqui Perfumeries from the heart of the Yucatan and French Polynesia. I mean scents inspired from the palm trees and white sandy beaches of Bora Bora…umm yes, please! I bought the candle called Tobacco…it’s just dreamy.
Could you just die, now?? Don’t you want one of everything in these photos?? I do!
Fun Fact: Travis told me today that the old building they are in used to be a hotel and the entrance “alleyway” to their shop used to be the Carriageway where guests were brought by carriage into the hotel entrance. So fun!
Find and follow them on Instagram @ChartreusePear. I am sure they will be happy to ship most items or plan a trip to go visit Mrs. Brenda and Travis on West Park Avenue in downtown Ruston and tell them I sent you. It’s well worth the trip!
